Falmouth Sea Front is one of the focal points of the town with the lovely, Blue Flag, Gyllyngvase Beach together with Castle Beach and the Swanpool Beach Leisure Centre. Gyllyngvase Beach is the largest of the three and is full of activity throughout the season with regular events including raft races and surf lifesaving competitions. Gyllyngvase has full RNLI Life Saving cover, the water is clear and blue and the beach is less than a minute from the San Remo! The Swanpool Beach Leisure Centre includes a crazy golf course and watersports including kayak hire. Castle Beach is quiet and tranquil and is great for rock pooling and relaxation.
Falmouth town centre provides a wide range of shops including many high street names. The town also has numerous small independent shops selling everything from the latest beach fashion clothing to locally baked bread and pasties. The town also has many waterfront pubs and cafes together with some truly excellent restaurants. The town is also now a centre of artistic and academic excellence with University College Falmouth. Falmouth stages a number of spectacular events throughout the season ranging from the Spring Festival to the Oyster Festival in the autumn. Falmouth also stages major maritime events including the J Class Yachts Regatta and the Tall Ships. The maritime events are complemented by a wide range of shore based festivities.
